Regional System of Support Providers (RESPRO)

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) provides technical assistance to Illinois schools and districts in academic status through 10 Regional System of Support Providers (RESPRO).  The I-KAN Regional Office of Education coordinates Area IV RESPRO assistance to East Central Illinois in collaboration with five other Regional Offices of Education. (see RESPRO map.)

RESPRO core principles are that student, school and district performance can improve with a systematic and sustainable approach, and that all improvement is local. RESPRO-provided assistance for school improvement reflects research-based best practices in the areas of 1) data analysis and DIP and SIP development; 2) standards-aligned curriculum, instruction, and classroom assessment; 3) teacher and administrator enhancement; and 4) student, family, and community support services.

The Area IV RESPRO is committed to solidifying strong educational practices at all schools.  Priority is given to districts with schools in restructuring, corrective action and school improvement, as well as to Title I schools with marginal academic performance. RESPRO Lead Contacts and Liaisons support the development and monitoring of effective e-Plans in assigned districts and schools. RESPRO was established by ISBE in 2003 and is funded through both state and federal grants.
