The mission of the Iroquois-Kankakee Regional Office of Education is to partner with its educational constituencies to facilitate the efficient and effective accomplishment of their missions by placing the highest priority on meeting the needs of children first.

Putting Children First

The I-KAN Regional Office of Education serves as a liaison between the Illinois State Board of Education and 20 school districts located in Iroquois and Kankakee Counties in east central Illinois.  These include

  • 69 public schools,
  • 11 non-public schools
  • 6 special/alternative attendance centers.

There are about 20,000 elementary and secondary school students in the area.
